Apply in person at a Czech embassy, or at the Ministry of the Interior if you already hold a Czech long-term visa or long-term residence. The embassy fee is CZK 5,000. An application or extension filed in the Czech Republic costs CZK 2,500. The Ministry decides in 30 days, or 60 days in a complicated case. An extension is decided in 60 days. The permit is issued for at most two years and can be extended by up to two years at a time while the investment continues. USD figures use the Czech National Bank rate of 21.811 koruna per US dollar on 8 October 2026. Time on this permit counts toward permanent residence after five years of continuous temporary residence. Citizenship follows the ordinary discretionary route, normally ten years in total, with Czech at B1 and a civics exam. Adult holders need comprehensive commercial health insurance until permanent residence. A child under 18 joins the public system once the long-term residence is collected. Family members apply separately. An investment-permit holder can sponsor a spouse or child without the 15-month wait that applies to an ordinary long-term resident.
