Netherlands · Verblijfsvergunning studie aan middelbare school of mbo · apply institution
A residence permit for eligible international pupils at Dutch secondary schools and students in senior secondary vocational education (MBO). The educational institution must be recognised by the IND and submits the residence application. The Netherlands must be the most appropriate place for the education, and applicants must meet additional country-of-origin, family-tie or Dutch-language criteria.
Tuition and course fees depend on the school, programme and student. No general national tuition range for this permit was confirmed in the official sources checked.
For employee work, the employer needs a TWV. The student may work up to 16 hours per week or full-time during June, July and August. Self-employment is permitted without a TWV while the student continues to meet the residence-permit conditions. A traineeship that is part of the study programme does not require a TWV.
| Fee | Type | Amount | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Study residence permit application | Application | $287 | One time |
The permit is issued for the study duration plus three months, to a maximum of five years, while requirements continue to be met. The study application costs EUR 254 and has a 60-day legal decision period. The special eligibility criteria make this permit narrower than the general higher-education student permit. The IND's pilot for incoming mobility in the final year of MBO level 4 is a distinct pilot route and is not included in this record.
