Residency rules An individual is a resident person if they normally reside in Seychelles, are domiciled in Seychelles (unless they have a permanent place of abode outside), or are present in Seychelles for 183 or more days in aggregate in any 12-month period that begins or ends in the tax year (Business Tax Act). Residency affects sourcing and withholding but does not extend business tax to foreign-source income except where the post-2021 substance rules apply to covered companies. An individual is generally tax resident with a registered address in San Marino or physical presence for more than six months in the tax year (183 days). Non-residents are taxed only on income deemed San Marino–source under Legge 166/2013 art. 5.
Filing notes Business and presumptive tax returns are due 31 March after the calendar tax year (substituted accounting years may apply on approval). Employment income tax is withheld monthly and remitted by the 21st of the following month via the Business Activity Statement. VAT returns follow monthly or quarterly cycles depending on registration type. Taxpayers file annual IGR returns; Legge 141/2025 moved the ordinary deadline to 31 July of the year following the tax period (previously end of June). Instalments on account follow the amended schedule in the same law.
