Albania uses a Type D Long-Stay Visa + Unique Permit combination (not officially named "Digital Nomad Visa"). Very low income requirement: ~EUR 450/mo or bank deposit of ~EUR 3,614. Must open an Albanian bank account. Tax exempt for first 12 months; also no income tax on earnings below ~USD 142,000/year. Health insurance must cover EUR 30,000. Criminal background check from last 5 years required. Renewable up to 5 times (max 6 years). Path to permanent residency after 5 years. Albania is not EU or Schengen.
