A 12-month visa under the Remote Employment Act, 2020 (Act 2020-23). Each grant, and each renewal, lasts 12 months. The Minister may renew it if the original conditions are still met. The Act sets no cap on the number of renewals and no waiting period between them. Cabinet approved the programme until 31 December 2026. The official page was still taking applications on 9 October 2026, and no later extension has been published. Confirm with the programme office before paying if the stay would run into 2027. The Act requires annual income of $100,000 generated outside Barbados. That amount is in Barbados dollars. The programme page and the live application form state the same test as US$50,000 over the 12 months of the stamp, which is the statutory peg of 2 Barbados dollars to 1 US dollar. There is no extra income figure per family member. The applicant also certifies the means to support a spouse or partner and any dependants. The fee is for the household, not per person, and it is non-refundable. It is due within 28 days of approval. A first stamp is BDS$4,000 (US$2,000) for one applicant and BDS$6,000 (US$3,000) when family accompanies the applicant. A renewal is BDS$3,000 (US$1,500) or BDS$4,500 (US$2,250). Family means the applicant, a spouse or partner, and dependants: a child or step-child under 26, or another relative wholly dependent because of age or infirmity. Holders are deemed non-resident for income tax and are not taxed in Barbados on the foreign income for which the stamp was granted. Purchases on the island pay VAT at 17.5%. The stamp does not allow work for a Barbadian employer or for clients in Barbados, and it is not a path to permanent residence or citizenship. The Act requires valid health insurance for the whole period. The published checklist does not ask for a police certificate, a lease or a degree. The form does ask whether the applicant has been convicted of a serious criminal offence. Applications, including renewals, are filed online. Approval is typically within 7 business days.
