Temporary residence for digital nomads under article 37^2 of Law 200/2010, in force since 20 September 2025. It is a residence right issued by the General Inspectorate for Migration, not a separate visa sticker. Law 66/2026, published to replace the foreigners law on 1 June 2027, is not the rule yet. A draft long-stay visa marked D/ND is part of that future procedure. The income test is 18 forecast average monthly salaries over the six months before the application, which the law also describes as three average salaries a month. Government Decision 773/2025 sets the 2026 forecast average at 17,400 lei, so the floor is 52,200 lei a month and 313,200 lei across those six statements. At the National Bank rate of 17.9003 lei per US dollar on 9 October 2026, 52,200 lei is about USD 2,916 a month. The annual fields are twelve times that monthly figure. The statute has no separate annual test, and the floor moves when the forecast salary is reset. The right is granted for the period requested, up to two years, and may be extended for a new period on the same conditions. The article states no lifetime cap and no waiting period. A criminal-record certificate is required for the first grant and not for an extension. Health insurance must stay valid in Moldova throughout the stay. Accommodation can be ownership, a lease, or a hotel contract. The work must be remote, through information technology, for a company registered outside Moldova, as an employee, a service contractor, a shareholder, or a remote manager. Work for a Moldovan employer is outside this status. No degree is required. The file is submitted to the Inspectorate in person or by an authorized representative. Article 31 still says provisional residence is granted on the basis of a long-stay visa, and this article is not in the exception list. There is no digital-nomad visa to apply for at a consulate until the 2027 rules. Someone who needs a visa to enter should confirm the entry visa before travel. The article does not limit nationality. Family members use the ordinary family-reunification rules. The holder must show means for them as well. No fixed amount per person is stated. Personal income tax is 12%. Tax residence is a domicile in Moldova or at least 183 days in the calendar year. Residents, including foreigners, are taxed on Moldovan-source income and on income paid from abroad for work carried out in Moldova. This status is not a tax exemption. It does not include a permit to take local employment, and it is not itself a path to permanent residence or citizenship. The Inspectorate's published tariff page does not name a fee or a processing time for this category, so none is stored.
