The Ministry of Interior grants a workless annual residence permit, on the applicant's own sponsorship, to the applicant and family members. The service page requires a Jordanian bank balance of at least JOD 20,000, or JOD 10,000 plus a residential apartment registered in the applicant's name. The permit does not authorize work. A February 2025 Cabinet decision reduces or removes the deposit for some applicants; the service page still shows the figures above.

Notes
The Ministry's residence menu calls this an issue-or-renewal service for residence with profession "none", based on a bank deposit. The applicant must be included as a sponsored person on the application. Required papers include passport copies and the last entry stamp. For a renewal, the previous residence is attached. If the request is for five years, the file must also include a letter from the Residence and Borders Department approving five-year residence. An approval notice is valid for six months from the approval date. That is not the length of the permit.
The amounts stored are the ones the live service page tells applicants to attach. On 26 February 2025 the Cabinet amended its earlier deposit decision. It cancelled a blocked JOD 10,000 deposit for a property owner renewing an annual residence after more than two years of previous residence, if ownership continues. It reduced the deposit from JOD 20,000 to JOD 10,000 where previous residence exceeded two years. It cancelled the blocked JOD 10,000 deposit for a property owner granted or renewing five-year residence, if ownership continues. It reduced the deposit from JOD 20,000 to JOD 10,000 for a person without property who wants a five-year residence or a renewal of that residence. Those Cabinet figures are not what the service page currently lists, so they are not stored as the minimums.
The permit is self-sponsored and the stated profession is none. It does not include a work permit. Family members are covered; the page does not list ages or say that parents qualify. The spouse is treated as included because the service is for the applicant and family under personal sponsorship.
USD figures use the Central Bank peg of JOD 0.709 per USD 1, retrieved 2026-10-09, rounded to the nearest dollar. Tax residence depends on 183 days of actual presence. Foreign income of a resident is taxed at 10 percent when it arose from funds or deposits from Jordan. Capital gains inside Jordan are generally exempt, with the statutory exceptions.
Ordinary naturalization under Article 12, after four years of residence, is a separate Civil Status procedure and includes a renunciation petition. This permit does not grant citizenship.
