Qatar tax profile

Tax system
Territorial Territorial taxation: individuals are not taxed on employment salaries, wages or allowances. Self-employed persons and companies may be subject to income tax on qualifying Qatar-source business income. Standard corporate income tax is 10% on taxable income; petroleum operations and certain legacy government agreements face a minimum 35% rate. Entities wholly owned by Qatari and GCC nationals resident in Qatar are generally exempt from CIT on their share of profits. Excise tax applies to tobacco, energy drinks, soft drinks and listed harmful goods. Value added tax has not been introduced; a GCC VAT framework and draft Qatari VAT law remain unpublished. From financial years beginning 1 January 2025, Qatar applies OECD Pillar Two domestic minimum top-up tax and income inclusion rules to multinational groups with consolidated revenue of at least EUR 750 million in at least two of the four preceding years.
