Notes

A member is a Mauritian citizen with a valid passport, or a child or grandchild of that citizen whether or not the child or grandchild has a Mauritian passport. Citizens registered under sections 5, 7 or 9 of the Citizenship Act are excluded. Only a non-citizen certificate holder needs the permanent residence permit. It is issued under Immigration Act 2022, section 11, for ten years. The spouse, a dependent child, and, if the holder is unmarried, up to three wholly dependent next of kin may receive one too. A dependent child must be wholly dependent, unmarried, and not working. No age is published. The professional route needs a job in Mauritius at a basic salary of at least MUR 100,000 a month, a postgraduate degree or equivalent professional membership, and five years of continuous full-time work abroad. The young professional route is under 30 at application, a bachelor's degree or equivalent obtained outside Mauritius, and three years of work abroad. The self-employed route is the only one with a capital figure: MUR 250,000. At the Bank of Mauritius consolidated midpoint on 9 October 2026, 46.7156 rupees per dollar, that is about USD 5,352. MUR 100,000 a month is about USD 2,141. Those salary and income tests are not stored as one income figure because the three routes differ. The holder must be in Mauritius for 183 days in an income year. A gap of more than a year without work or business can revoke the certificate. Apply on the diaspora portal before return, or within 180 days of starting the first job or registering the first business. Originals are checked in person. The Board aims to process a complete certificate file within 30 days. The permanent residence permit itself is filed with the Prime Minister's Office. No fee for that permit was published in the guidelines. No separate work permit is described. Citizenship still follows the ordinary six-year alien path.
