Notes

Immigration Regulations, regulation 24(3), condition A, and regulation 26(1). The Director may grant one to three years, and may also issue an annual residence permit, so no single initial term is stored. The permit fee is USD 1,500 plus a USD 150 administrative fee. A spouse or child endorsement is USD 500 plus a USD 150 administrative fee. Children must be under 18. Dependants cannot work. The later PRC under regulation 13(2)(a)(iii) costs USD 10,000 and does not itself allow work. Naturalisation as a British Overseas Territories Citizen needs a PRC covering the last twelve months, so the practical wait is about eleven years from the first residence permit, not five. Renewal is requested thirty days before expiry. A late renewal adds USD 250. The Director can take up to six weeks. The Immigration Bill 2026, which is not in force, has been described as stretching this ordinary route toward twenty years.
