Notes and caveats
Applications are registered online through UDI and supporting documents are submitted as directed. Family members may usually apply if the university/college student has at least one year left and meets the applicable financial requirements. A student permit does not itself form the basis for permanent residence, and time on it does not count toward the qualifying residence period. Admission language requirements are set by institutions and programmes; UDI does not publish a national IELTS or Bergenstest score for this permit. Norway is in the EEA and Schengen but is not an EU member.
