Australia has no digital nomad visa. This record is the Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream. Home Affairs says you must not work in Australia. A stay is generally 3 months and can be up to 12 months. The grant may be single entry or multiple entry. Each person, including a child on the same passport, applies separately. From 1 July 2026 the base charge is AUD 250 outside Australia and AUD 630 in Australia. Eligible Pacific Island and Timor-Leste passport holders pay AUD 205 outside Australia and AUD 515 in Australia. The Frequent Traveller stream is AUD 1,845, or AUD 1,515 for a Pacific-regional passport. There is no set bank balance. You must have enough money for the stay and to leave. Health insurance is recommended and can be attached as condition 8501. The visa cannot be extended. A further stay is a new application. Someone already in Australia on a visitor visa can usually be granted further time only so the total stay is 12 months, unless there are exceptional circumstances. On 17 September 2026 the government announced a no-further-stay condition on future visitor visas. No commencement was found as of 9 October 2026. The Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601, AUD 20 service charge, 3 months at a time) and the free eVisitor (subclass 651, 3 months at a time) are separate visitor visas, not remote-work permits. The Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) is also separate: the first visa is AUD 840 for 12 months, local work is allowed, and the age limit is 18 to 30, or 35 for some passports.
