Visa tipo V for remote work or telework from Colombia, through digital means, exclusively for foreign companies, as an employee or as an independent, or to start a digital-content or information-technology venture of interest to the country. Only passports that are exempt from a Colombian short-stay visa qualify. The income test is three times the legal monthly minimum wage, shown on bank statements for the last three months. For 2026 that wage is COP 1,750,905, so the threshold is COP 5,252,715 a month. At the 9 October 2026 representative market rate of COP 3,218.75 per USD, that is about USD 1,632 a month. The peso figure moves on 1 January with the minimum wage. The annual amounts are twelve times the monthly figure; the resolution states a monthly test, not an annual one. The visa does not allow paid work for a person or company domiciled in Colombia. It is granted for up to two years. The resolution does not provide an extension. Health insurance must cover accident, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization, death or repatriation for the intended stay. A spouse or permanent partner, and economically dependent children under 25 (or an older child with a qualifying disability), may apply as beneficiaries. A beneficiary visa cannot outlast the main visa and does not allow work. There is no fixed extra income amount per beneficiary. Outside the eurozone and Cuba, Resolución 3969 de 2026 charges USD 56 to study a tipo V application and USD 138 to issue it. In the eurozone and Cuba the same stages are EUR 44 and EUR 106. The study fee is not refunded. Spanish nationals pay neither stage. Japanese and Korean nationals pay only the study fee. A stay of more than 183 days, counting the days of entry and exit, inside any period of 365 days makes the person a Colombian tax resident, and residents are taxed on worldwide income at ordinary progressive rates. If those days fall across two tax years, residence starts in the second year. Time on this visa does not count toward a resident (R) visa.
