Migrant visa, issued for up to three years, for a foreigner who will practise a regulated profession in Colombia or, exceptionally, an unregulated activity that is in the national interest. Average monthly income must be at least five monthly legal minimum wages (COP 8,754,525 in 2026). The work permit covers only that profession or activity. Time as holder counts toward a Resident visa after five years.

Notes

A regulated profession needs the validated degree and the professional card, licence or provisional permit from the Colombian professional council. An activity based on experience rather than a degree can be supported with certificates of that experience. Income is shown with a bank certificate no more than 30 days old, covering the average balance and monthly movement of the last six months. A second or later visa must use a Colombian bank certificate. The 2026 monthly legal minimum wage is COP 1,750,905. USD figures use the Superintendencia Financiera TRM of COP 3,218.75 per USD on 2026-10-09. Health coverage in Colombia or an all-risk policy is required. An absence of more than 180 consecutive days in any 365-day period ends the visa. The ordinary type M fee is USD 56 to study the application and USD 204 to issue it. This is local professional practice, not the type V digital-nomad visa. The Cancillería category page currently returns an error; the requirements are article 76 of Resolución 5477 de 2022. Naturalization domicile is five years counted from issuance of the Resident visa.
