Migrant visa, issued for up to three years, for a foreigner with a lifetime pension of at least three monthly legal minimum wages (COP 5,252,715 a month in 2026), paid by a state or a private pension fund. It does not authorize work or affiliation to the Colombian social security system, except under a bilateral or multilateral agreement. Time as holder counts toward a Resident visa after five years.
The 2026 monthly legal minimum wage is COP 1,750,905 (Decreto 1469 de 2025), so the floor is 3 × that wage. USD figures use the Superintendencia Financiera TRM of COP 3,218.75 per USD on 2026-10-09. The pension must be lifetime; savings or a lump sum do not qualify. A police certificate for the last three years, a medical certificate of psychophysical fitness, and health coverage in Colombia or an all-risk policy are required. An absence of more than 180 consecutive days in any 365-day period ends the visa automatically. There is no separate rule that the holder must be in Colombia for 180 days a year. The ordinary type M fee is USD 56 to study the application and USD 204 to issue it. Each beneficiary pays the same tariff. Spanish nationals pay nothing; nationals of Japan and Korea pay only the study fee. Naturalization domicile is five years counted from issuance of the Resident visa, after the five years as an M holder.
