Law 171-07 and the DGM checklist set the US$1,500 pension and the extra US$250 per dependent. The file deposit is RD$28,800, about US$471 at the Banco Central buy rate of RD$61.1707 per US$1 on 8 October 2026. The card and cédula certificate are RD$3,500 and the adult medical exam is RD$6,300. Those two charges are not in the application fee. A residence visa (RS) is obtained at a consulate. The file is then opened on the DGM portal and the originals are deposited in the Dominican Republic. Renewal must be requested 45 days before expiry and requires proof the pension was received and spent in the country. Decreto 631-11 article 66 sets a two-year renewal card unless DGM stipulates another term. The live renewal service stipulates one year. The declared pension, and dividends and interest, are exempt from income tax. Capital gains are only half exempt. Paid work is allowed and the salary is taxed. The checklist requires a guarantee or repatriation bond, not a health-insurance policy. The naturalization certificate requires two years as a permanent resident.
