Migrant visa, issued for up to three years, for a foreigner who has registered foreign direct investment with Banco de la República for more than 650 monthly legal minimum wages (more than COP 1,138,088,250 in 2026) and keeps that investment for the life of the visa. Real estate has its own, lower threshold on the same visa. This route does not include a work permit. Time as holder counts toward a Resident visa after five years.

650 × the 2026 monthly legal minimum wage of COP 1,750,905 is COP 1,138,088,250. The statute says the registered amount must be greater than 650 wages, so that figure itself does not qualify. USD figures use the Superintendencia Financiera TRM of COP 3,218.75 per USD on 2026-10-09 and convert the 650-wage line. Bank statements for the three months before the application must show means to stay; no extra income floor is stated. A later visa requires proof the investment was held for the whole previous visa. Any change must be reported at once. An absence of more than 180 consecutive days in any 365-day period ends the visa. The ordinary type M fee is USD 56 to study the application and USD 204 to issue it. Working inside the company is the separate Socio o Propietario visa, at 100 SMMLV. Naturalization domicile is five years counted from issuance of the Resident visa.
