Jamaica has no digital nomad visa. This record is the visitor landing used by US citizens, not a remote-work permit. PICA's entry list says a US passport needs no visa for 6 months. Visit Jamaica still says US citizens need no visa for up to 90 days. The officer's stamp is the landing time. A shorter stamp can be extended at PICA before it expires, and a non-Commonwealth visitor cannot be extended past 6 months. Commonwealth visitors can be extended to 12 months; that cap is not this record. There is no fee and no income test to enter. The C5 passenger declaration at enterjamaica.gov.jm is free and is not a visa. An extension costs a processing fee of JMD 10,000, about US$63 at the Bank of Jamaica rate of J$159.78 per US$1 on 7 October 2026, and is decided within three working days. It needs a passport with at least six months' validity, a return ticket and a letter stating the reason. PICA also lists JMD 50,000 to extend beyond a nationality's visa-exemption period. That fee does not raise the six-month visitor cap for a US passport. All visitors must show a return or onward ticket. The May 2024 National Visa Policy only proposes a nomad visa, for one to three years, for nationals who need a visa to enter. It was tabled for consultation and is not open. No income amount has been prescribed. The 2026/27 budget did not adopt a nomad programme. Gainful employment in Jamaica needs a work permit from the Ministry of Labour. This stay does not include one, and it does not lead to permanent residence or citizenship. There is no nomad tax exemption. A non-resident is someone in Jamaica for a temporary visit, with no intention of settling, for less than six months or 183 days in the year of assessment. Non-residents are taxed on income earned in the island, at 25 percent from the first dollar, with no nil-rate threshold. A person in Jamaica for 183 days or more in the tax year is resident for that year.
