The Department of Immigration's 2022 annual report says holders of BEATS status can apply for a permit to reside because the program is presently suspended until further notice. The 2023 annual report does not mention it, it is absent from the Department's current services, and portal.immigration.gov.bs, the application host named on the program site, no longer resolves. The Ministry of Tourism site still publishes the last terms. No reinstatement date has been announced. Those terms: a one-year residence permit, with annual renewals considered up to three years. No published minimum income. Professionals pay BSD 25 to apply and BSD 1,000 for the permit. Each dependent pays BSD 25 to apply and BSD 500 for the permit. Students pay BSD 25 to apply and BSD 500 for the permit. The Bahamian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. Estimated processing is five business days. A passport and medical insurance are required, plus a job letter or proof of self-employment. Students show enrollment and proof of sufficient funds, with no amount published. The Bahamas does not levy personal income tax or capital gains tax.
