Statutory basis: Immigration Act Cap. 156 s.10A. Applicants must show a primary place of residence in Belize (lease + utility bill, or property title + municipal tax) and evidence of Belize investments ≥ BZ$500,000. Annual fee is one-fifth of the nationality-based permanent-residence fee (schedule effective 1 May 2020, fees in BZD): CARICOM BZ$200, Central America/Mexico/DR BZ$300, Commonwealth BZ$600, Europe BZ$1,200, other countries (incl. USA) BZ$800 — i.e. about US$100–US$600 at the fixed BZ$2 = US$1 peg; left out of `application_fee_usd` because it varies by nationality. Ordinary permanent residence is a separate route (one continuous year with ≤14 days absence). Citizenship by registration requires five years as a permanent resident. Work rights for temporary residents are not spelled out as a blanket work permit on the Immigration pages; investors typically operate through their Belize business — stored `can_work_*` true with that caveat. No special tax exemption like QRP.
