Notes

The visa deposit covers the principal and two dependents. Each further dependent requires another USD 15,000 deposit. The principal application fee is USD 1,500 and each dependent's application fee is USD 300. The annual PRA fee is USD 360 for the principal and two dependents, plus USD 100 for each dependent beyond two. The deposit is returned when membership ends. It is not a fee. A pensioner must show a lifetime pension of at least USD 800 a month if single, or USD 1,000 a month with dependents. There is no pension test for the higher non-pensioner deposits. The PRA ID is valid for two years under Circular No. 004 of 14 July 2025. The annual fee is still charged every year. The visa itself has no fixed expiry while the deposit and fees continue. Applicants must be in the Philippines for the whole process, on a tourist visa valid for at least 30 days that can be converted. A 9(a) visa marked "No Conversion", and an AJACKSSUK visa, cannot be converted directly. Police clearance is required. A medical certificate on the PRA form is required. Health insurance is not. An NBI clearance is required only after 90 days in the Philippines. The applicant-facing requirements sheet says 30 to 45 working days. The 2026 Citizen's Charter counts 10 working days inside PRA and excludes Bureau of Immigration time. Gainful employment needs a separate Alien Employment Permit. PRA will assist with that permit and with a TIN for setting up a business. The visa does not itself include the work permit. A foreigner may own a condominium unit, not land. The stored property right is the condominium and long-lease route. A resident alien is taxed on Philippine-source income. PRA states an exemption from tax on pensions and annuities. The visa does not require the holder to give up their citizenship. It is not an immigrant visa and it does not grant Philippine citizenship. Operators and workers of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators and Internet Gaming Licensees are disqualified.
