Notes and caveats
X2 is straightforward: no Residence Permit conversion needed. Must stay within visa duration. Cannot extend to X1 from within China — must exit and re-apply if wanting to study longer than 180 days. Register with local police within 24 hours of arrival. Short-term visa fingerprint exemptions remain in effect through 31 December 2026 for eligible applicants.
