D-4-1 language trainees become eligible to apply for part-time work permission after six months in Korea. The official table permits 10 hours/week without its Korean-proficiency criteria, or 20 hours on weekdays and 25 hours on weekends/vacations when criteria are met; the higher limit depends on institution accreditation, academic performance and language level (including TOPIK 2 or accepted equivalents). Advance immigration permission is required.

Students admitted to a degree program may apply to change to D-2 status under the applicable requirements. D-4 holders may qualify for D-10 only when they independently meet its degree, points or Korean-language criteria; completion of language training alone is insufficient. D-4-1 part-time work has a six-month waiting period and requires advance permission.
