Notes

From 1 May 2023 the Ministry of Justice renamed the old real-estate investor scheme and raised the threshold from KRW 500 million to KRW 1 billion for the five designated regions. The same release extended those regions for three years, which ran to 30 April 2026. The Ministry's stay-policy page still describes the scheme as operating and reports investment results through December 2024. The Dong-A Ilbo of 4 March 2026, citing the Ministry, says a notice of 8 February 2026 extended Jeju, Busan Osiria, Incheon (Yeongjong, Songdo and Cheongna), Gangwon (Pyeongchang and Donghae) and Yeosu (Gyeongdo and Hwayang) through 31 December 2027, at the same KRW 1 billion. The gazette text of that notice was not opened. The visa navigator says the spouse and underage children receive F-2 for the investor's period, and that five years of maintained investment leads to F-5. It also exempts this route from the Social Integration Program test at the permanent-residence stage. That booklet still prints the pre-2023 prices, including KRW 500 million and KRW 700 million by region, so those prices were not used. F-2's category maximum in the same booklet is five years. The stored fee is the KRW 100,000 change-of-status fee, about USD 74 at KRW 1,342.80 per USD on 9 October 2026. General naturalization remains five continuous years of address plus permanent residence.
