Ookla September 2026 medians for Türkiye are 244.64 Mbps on mobile and 223.27 Mbps on fixed broadband. That page is national, not a Fethiye sample. Lokal Coworking advertises about 500 Mbps down and 80 Mbps up on its flex desk. 5 7

Tap Water
Do not drink it. Wikivoyage says Turkish tap water is often chalky and heavily chlorinated, and the pipes are not guaranteed safe, so use bottled water. Brushing teeth with tap water is generally fine. 2

SIM Card
Turkcell, Vodafone Türkiye and Türk Telekom. Turkcell Fırsat 20 GB is 900 TL for 4 weeks (20 GB, 1,000 minutes, 500 SMS). Fırsat 10 GB is 700 TL and Fırsat 30 GB is 1,100 TL, for the same 4 weeks. A physical SIM is activated in a store or by courier; eSIM activation on that page is via e-Devlet. FCDO says some foreign eSIM providers are restricted. 4 11
Banking for Expats
Cards are normal in resort shops. Keep cash for small traders and for tips, which are not added to the card slip (about 10% when you tip). FCDO says banks may refuse 50 and 100 US dollar notes because of counterfeits. An expat account-opening fee was not on these pages. 2 11
Accommodation
Long stays are local listings rather than a hotel. Rentola samples of long-term 1+1 flats in Fethiye were 12,500 to 22,000 TL a month, and Apple Estates listed a furnished central 1+1 at 39,000 TL a month. 45 46
Cashless Friendly
Contactless cards are normal in shops. Dolmuş fares are charged to the Muğla Kart as well as cash. Markets, small counters and restaurant tips still want cash. 2 3 22
Short Term Rentals
Nightly stays are hotels and pensions by the marina and on Çalış, plus a few hostels. For a month, the furnished band above (about 39,000 TL in the centre) is the practical alternative to a nightly rate. 3 46 41
Budget Accommodation
Hostel Chillsteps is the highest-rated Fethiye hostel on Hostelz, from USD 8.39 a night, on a page updated 1 October 2026. A lira price on the hostel’s own site was not opened. 41
Best Area to Stay for Tourists
The marina and Paspatur for the town, or Ölüdeniz, about 14 km south, for the lagoon. Resort hotels sit on Çalış and along the bays west of the centre. 3 30 39
Best Area to Stay for Digital Nomads
Akarca, on Mustafa Kemal Bulvarı, where Lokal Coworking is, with Çalış beach a short ride north. The çarşı and Paspatur are the noisy, stepped centre rather than a quiet month. 7 25 31

Best Coworking Space
Lokal Coworking, Mustafa Kemal Bulvarı 158/A, Akarca. Day use is 1,100 TL and a monthly flex desk is 12,000 TL, weekdays, with tea, coffee and about 500 Mbps down. A separate daily page on the same site still showed 850 TL. 7 25

Transportation

Best Taxi/Ride App
Use a registered taxi and insist on the meter. FCDO warns against unofficial cabs. The February 2026 Fethiye tariff in the local press is 150 TL to start, 50 TL per km and a 250 TL minimum. A ride-hail app that lists Fethiye without a template error was not confirmed. 11 47
Best Beach Nearby
Çalış Plajı, the long beach on the north side of the bay. Ölüdeniz lagoon is about 14 km south, with Belcekız and Kıdrak beaches. 3 31 39
Top Regional Airline
Pegasus flies Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) to Dalaman (DLM). Flightmapper shows PC2284 through 24 October 2026, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Dalaman is the airport for Fethiye, about 45 km west. 48 35
Top International Airline
Turkish Airlines flies Istanbul (IST) to Dalaman (DLM). The airline page says the airport is 45 km from Fethiye, about an hour west on the D400. Seasonal European flights use the same airport; the airport’s own carrier list did not render. 35 3
Highway Access
The D400 coastal road runs west to Dalaman and Göcek and east toward Kaş and Antalya. From Istanbul, Wikivoyage routes you on the O-7 and O-5 to Izmir, then the D550 and the D400. 3
Main Train/Transit Hub
Fethiye has no railway. The hub is Fethiye Otogarı, 240. Sokak, Taşyaka, at İnönü Bulvarı and Ölüdeniz Caddesi. Coaches run to Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya. 3 26
Public Transport Passes
MUTTAŞ dolmuş, paid with the Muğla Kart. On the 2026 Fethiye short-hop tariff a civilian ride is 42 TL on the electronic card and 59 TL on a two-load Muğla Kart. Fethiye to Göcek is 130 TL, to Dalaman 174 TL and to Marmaris 530 TL on that two-load card. Those PDFs have no monthly pass price. 21 22
Regional Travel
Sky Marine’s catamaran to Rhodes: adult €55 one way, €65 same-day return or €75 open return in 2026, plus €2 Fethiye and €10 Rhodes port tax at check-in. It leaves Fethiye at 08:30, daily from 15 May to 31 October. Dolmuş covers Ölüdeniz and Kayaköy. 23 21 3

Özel Letoon Hastanesi, Pazaryeri Mahallesi, Şehit Hasan Küçükçoban Caddesi No 22, with a 24-hour emergency department, switchboard 444 6 112. LifeGym in Foça lists yoga and pilates among its group classes, at 1054. Sokak No 32. The price page gives the gym membership (5,000 TL a month) and does not give a drop-in class price. 34

Best Local Dish to Try
Kar şerbeti, a slush of snow and grape molasses, is the local specialty Wikivoyage names. At Balık Pazarı, between 96. and 97. Sokak, you buy fish and pay a surrounding restaurant to cook it. 3

Kar şerbeti, the snow-and-molasses slush, is the local sweet. A pastry shop with a current price was not confirmed. 3
Affordable Shopping Spots
The farmers’ market is Tuesday and Friday, 09:00 to 21:00, on the square facing the football stadium on Pürşahbey Caddesi. Carrefour next to the otogar is open daily 08:00 to 23:00 on the same guide. 3
E-commerce/Online Store
Trendyol and Hepsiburada are the two main national marketplaces. 43 50
Bar/Nightlife Area
Paspatur, the old-town lanes around 36. Sokak in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi. Wikivoyage also puts bars along the Atatürk Caddesi strip, including Deep Blue Bar; that list was not re-dated in 2026. 30 3

Must-See Landmarks
The Tomb of Amyntas, the Lycian rock tomb in the cliff above town, built about 350 BC. Foreign adult entry is €3 on the 2026 ministry tariff. MüzeKart holders enter free. 8 3
Museums & Art Venues
Fethiye Museum, 505. Sokak No 4, Kesikkapı, is marked closed on the 2026 ministry fee list, and free when it is open. The directorate page still prints 08:30 to 18:00. Its best-known piece is the Letoon trilingual stele. 8 36 27
Historical Sites
Kayaköy, the abandoned Greek village inland from the town. Foreign adult entry is €3. The Letoon sanctuary and Tlos are also €3 on the same 2026 tariff. 8 32 3
Religious Sites
Merkez Eski Cami, just off Çarşı Caddesi, dated 1801 (1216 AH) by Wikivoyage. 3
Cultural Districts
Paspatur, the old town in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi, around 36. Sokak: narrow lanes, shops and cafes. 30 3
Local Markets
Farmers’ market on Tuesday and Friday, 09:00 to 21:00, facing the stadium on Pürşahbey Caddesi. 3
Historic Buildings
Lycian sarcophagi stand in the streets, including one at the foot of Kaya Caddesi. Fethiye Castle, on the hill west of the rock tombs, was described as temporarily closed in the Wikivoyage note from 2023. 3
Local Heritage
The Lycian Way, a waymarked walk of about 540 km, starts in Fethiye. The first section is about 9 km to Kayaköy, then on toward Ölüdeniz and eventually Antalya. 3

Nature and Outdoor Activities

Nearby Nature Escapes
Saklıkent Canyon is the gorge inland of the coast. OpenStreetMap places the attraction in Kaş district, Antalya, so it is a day trip out of Fethiye rather than a town park. A current drive time was not on that page. 33
National Parks Nearby
There is no national park in the town. Ölüdeniz-Kıdrak Tabiat Parkı is a nature park of about 25 hectares, registered in 2017, on the way to Ölüdeniz, and it includes Kıdrak beach. 38 39
Cycling/Walking Paths
A shore path links the centre, Akarca and Çalış. Hipokampus, on that path by Şehit Fethi Bey Park, says the centre is about a 7-minute bike ride and Çalış beach about 5 minutes. 42 25
Scenic Viewpoints
Babadağ cable car, above Ölüdeniz. A return ticket is 950 TL from age 7, or 700 TL for students and disabled guests with a card. The same ticket covers the chairlifts toward the summit at about 1,960 m. Wind can close the upper stations and limit the ride to 1,200 m. 10
Bonfire-Friendly Spots
Do not light a fire in the woods. FCDO warns of a fine or prison for fires, barbecues and cigarettes in risk areas, and says to call 112 for a wildfire. At the Ölüdeniz picnic area the Muğla governorate page bans mangal from May to October. 11 2 39

Studio Purchase Price (City Center)
Emlakjet’s August 2026 asking price for Cami Mahallesi, the bazaar centre, is 68,628 TL per m². The index is not split by number of rooms. A 40 m² flat at that figure is about 2,745,120 TL. The district average is higher, 81,713 TL per m², because Ölüdeniz, Kayaköy and Göcek pull it up. 24
Studio Purchase Price (Outside City)
Karaçulha, the largest neighbourhood, is 63,191 TL per m² on the same August 2026 table. A 40 m² flat at that figure is about 2,527,640 TL. Outside the centre is not always cheaper: Kayaköy is 201,909 TL per m² on that table. 24 6
1-Bedroom Purchase Price (City Center)
The August 2026 Cami Mahallesi asking price is 68,628 TL per m² and is not split by rooms. A 60 m² flat at that figure is about 4,117,680 TL. 24
1-Bedroom Purchase Price (Outside City)
Karaçulha is 63,191 TL per m² in August 2026. A 60 m² flat at that figure is about 3,791,460 TL. 24
2-Bedroom Purchase Price (City Center)

2-Bedroom Purchase Price (Outside City)

Corporate Tax
25% on profits for companies outside the financial sector. Financial-sector companies pay 30%. From 2025 a domestic minimum tax of 10% of income before some deductions can apply if it is higher. 12
Dividend Withholding Tax
15% withholding on dividends paid to an individual or to a non-resident company. Dividends paid to a resident company are not withheld. Treaties can reduce the 15%. 14
Tax System
Residents are taxed on worldwide income. You are resident if your legal home is in Türkiye or you stay more than six months in a calendar year. Non-residents are taxed on Turkish-source income only. 13 17

20% standard KDV. Reduced rates are 10% (list II, including basic food and textiles) and 1% (list I). Exports are exempt. 16
Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) Rules
Yes. A foreign company is a CFC when Turkish residents control at least 50%, at least 25% of gross revenue is passive, foreign effective tax is under 10%, and gross revenue exceeds the foreign-currency equivalent of 100,000 TL (Corporate Tax Law article 7). 15
Property Tax
In a metropolitan municipality such as Muğla, the annual tax on a home is 0.2% of the tax value (emlak vergi değeri), not of the market price. Outside metropolitan boundaries the home rate is 0.1%. A further 10% of the tax is charged as the cultural-heritage contribution. 18 20
Property Transaction Tax
Title-deed fee is 2% from the buyer and 2% from the seller, so 4% combined, on the declared price. If the declared price is below the emlak tax value, the fee is calculated on that value. 19
Attractive Tax System for Digital Nomads
No special nomad rate. The GoTürkiye certificate asks for 3,000 US dollars a month and does not itself exempt income. Residents are taxed on worldwide income. Law No. 7582 can exempt foreign-source income for 20 years if you become resident from 2026 after three calendar years with no Turkish domicile or Turkish tax liability. Pay for work done in Türkiye is Turkish-source and stays taxable. 17 13 44
