Tax system
Worldwide Residents are taxed on worldwide income; non-residents on Turkmenistan-source income. Standard personal income tax is a flat 10% on wages and on business income under the general regime; qualifying small and medium enterprises may pay 2% on gross income. Corporate profit tax is 8% for private resident legal entities; other legal entities (including many state-linked and foreign permanent establishments) pay 20%, with 50% rates for state banks and insurers and bespoke rates for hydrocarbon contractors. VAT is 15% on most taxable supplies (0% on certain exports and international transport). Mandatory employer pension contributions are 20% of wages.
