Multiple-entry retirement visa for nationals of 14 countries, aged 50 or over. The test is a Thai bank deposit of THB 3 million, or a deposit of THB 1.8 million plus annual income of THB 1.2 million. Each permission to stay is five years, with one five-year extension. Employment is prohibited, apart from listed volunteer work.
The lower deposit must be topped up to THB 3 million within one year of entry. The balance stays at the full amount for one year and then at least THB 1.5 million, spent in Thailand. The Ministry of Interior notice requires a Thai insurer with outpatient cover of THB 40,000 and inpatient cover of THB 400,000. Consulate summaries also ask for COVID-19 cover of THB 3,000,000 or USD 100,000. A spouse of any age and a child under 20 may receive their own O-X visas. Address notification is every 90 days, plus an in-person qualification check every year. The notice sets the fee at THB 10,000. Los Angeles charges USD 400. The 14-country list is Japan, Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. A combined Los Angeles page still adds Austria, Belgium, New Zealand and South Korea.
