Essentials

City
Nàquera/Náquera, a town in Camp de Túria, province of Valencia, Valencian Community. The town hall is on Plaça de l'Ajuntament, postcode 46119, phone 961 680 002. The centre sits on a hill in the Sierra Calderona foothills, 24 km from Valencia, and the municipal area is 38.7 square km. 2 3 37
Population
8,556 people on 1 January 2025 in the official municipal register (4,442 men and 4,114 women). The encyclopedia says the summer population roughly triples, to about 24,000. 1 2
Internet Speed
Orange sells symmetrical 300 Mb fibre for 30 euro a month after 12 months at 20 euro, with a Wi-Fi 6 router. Whether that tariff is offered at a Náquera address was not checked on a coverage map. 11
Currency & Banking
Euro (EUR). On 19 October 2026 the European Central Bank rate was 1 euro = 1.1225 US dollars, so 1 US dollar = 0.8909 euro. Cards are widely accepted, and some shops ask to see identification before taking a card. 4 7
Tap Water
Safe to drink. A national travel guide says Spanish tap water is drinkable, and that some southern supplies taste more mineral, so many people there buy bottles. Restaurants do not always offer tap water unless you ask for agua del grifo. 7
Power
230 V, 50 Hz, Type C and F (Europlug and Schuko). 7
SIM Card
Orange, Movistar, Vodafone and Yoigo are the main networks. Operator shops usually ask for identification, and Movistar says a prepaid SIM must be registered with a DNI or NIE. Orange Prepago 10 is 10 euro for 28 days (80 GB, with 15 GB of EU roaming), as a physical SIM or an eSIM. Movistar Prepago Plus is 10 euro for 28 days (60 GB) and Prepago Premium is 15 euro for 28 days (240 GB). 5 6 7
Banking for Expats
Cards are widely accepted, and some shops ask for a passport or other photo identification before taking a card. No bank branch in the town was confirmed on the pages opened. 7
Accommodation
Fotocasa asking rents in October 2026 were 11 euro per square metre in every district it lists, so a 60 square metre flat at that rate is 660 euro a month. Sale asking prices the same month were 2,148 euro per square metre for the whole town. 9 10
Cashless Friendly
Cards are widely accepted. Some shops ask to see identification before taking a card. 7
Short Term Rentals
Fotocasa asking rents in October 2026 were 11 euro per square metre, the same figure in the old centre and in the residential estates. A 60 square metre flat at that rate is 660 euro a month. No nightly aparthotel in the town was found on the pages opened. 10
Best Area to Stay for Tourists
The hilltop centre, around Plaça de l'Església and the Ermita de San Francisco, is the walking base for the calvary and the Sierra Calderona paths. 2 13 46
Best Area to Stay for Digital Nomads
The old centre, near the library on Vinyes Perdudes and the Calle Valencia bus stops for Bétera. There is no coworking space in the town. The residential estates such as La Carrasca are quieter and further from the bus. 19 20 26

Working and Networking

Best Coworking Space
No coworking tariff was found in Náquera. TxoCoworking, Calle Finlandia 9 in Benimaclet, Valencia, lists flexible desks from 180 euro a month, open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 18:00. 26

Cafetería-Heladería Nicoletta, Calle Barack Obama 6, serves breakfasts, coffee, granizados and ice cream (phone 673 774 030). Café Bar Cazorla is at Calle Valencia 56 (phone 961 681 382) and the town list marks it open on Saturday afternoons. Neither page says the cafe is set up for laptop work. 23 24

Until 31 December 2026 a one-zone monthly pass for zone A, B or C is 21 euro (40 percent off 35 euro), and the two-zone AB monthly pass is 31.80 euro (off 53 euro). A one-zone 10-trip pass is 5.40 euro in that window (off 9 euro). The card itself is extra: 4.40 euro personalised, 2.20 euro anonymous plastic, 1.10 euro cardboard. 8
Regional Travel
Change at Bétera for Metrovalencia into Valencia. The same weekday bus 133B reaches Hospital de Llíria in about an hour. Valencia Airport is in Manises, about 33 km west in a straight line. The CV-310 continues north into the Sierra Calderona toward Serra. 12 19 27 44

Culture and Attractions

Must-See Landmarks
The neo-Gothic Ermita de San Francisco, built by neighbours from 1919 to 1921 and opened in October 1922, keeps a Vicente Macip altarpiece and a calvary of 14 chapels with a view over the gulf. Pi del Salt is a landmark pine on Camí del Salt. The church square is Plaça de l'Església. 2 38 43 46

No municipal museum was listed. The Sierra Calderona visitor centre is at Calle Lepanto 8, next to the municipal nursery school, phones 963 189 865 and 679 195 238. 13
Historical Sites
The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación dates from 1757 and stands on the site of the old mosque. The hermitage replaces a chapel documented in 1603. The Cabeç Bord defensive positions were built by Republican forces in 1938 during the offensive on Valencia, and part of the Republican government stayed in the La Carrasca estate. 2
Religious Sites
The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (1757) is on Plaça de l'Església. The Ermita de San Francisco, with its calvary, is the other focus of the October fiestas. The patrons are the Encarnación and Francis of Assisi. 2 15 38 46
Annual Events
The patronal fiestas run from 1 to 4 October, in 2026 as well. The 3rd (Encarnación) and the 4th (Francis of Assisi) are local public holidays. September is the warm-up, with verbenas, parades and fireworks, and the encyclopedia also lists bous al carrer in August. 2 15
Cultural Districts
The old centre is the hilltop village around the church. La Carrasca, begun as a summer estate around 1900, is the older residential area of villas. Other mapped residential areas include La Loma and San Miguel-El Paraíso. 2 9
Local Markets
The town commerce portal places El Mercat at Plaça de l'Ajuntament and does not publish a market day on that page. The town hall phone for the commerce office is 961 680 002, extension 2115. 25
Historic Buildings
The 1757 parish church and the 1922 hermitage are the main monuments. Nineteenth-century farmhouses in the centre have a cart entrance and a rear courtyard. La Carrasca keeps early villas with towers and art-deco details. 2
Local Heritage
The official name is the bilingual form Nàquera/Náquera. The place was a Muslim farmstead of about 40 houses; after the Morisco expulsion of 1609 it was almost empty. The hermitage keeps a Vicente Macip altarpiece, and the Cabeç Bord walk explains the 1938 defence of Valencia. 2 3

Nature and Outdoor Activities

Nearby Nature Escapes
About 1,020 hectares, 26 percent of the municipal area, lie inside the Sierra Calderona natural park. The park is 18,019 hectares, declared on 15 January 2002. The visitor centre is in the town, at Calle Lepanto 8. The Gorgo rises to 907 m, and the Garbí viewpoint is about 600 m. 2 13 14 48
National Parks Nearby
Sierra Calderona is a natural park under Decree 10/2002, not a national park. No national park was named on the pages opened for this town. 14 48
Cycling/Walking Paths
The GR-10 long-distance path runs from Puçol to Andilla across the sierra. The regional tourism page says the Garbí, at about 601 m, can be walked from Náquera, Serra or Segart. The CV-310 is the main road through the park. 13 14
Scenic Viewpoints
The calvary at the Ermita de San Francisco looks over the Gulf of Valencia. Pi del Salt, on Camí del Salt, is a viewpoint pine with the sea on the horizon. The Mirador del Garbí is mapped in Albalat dels Tarongers and is reached on foot from Náquera. 2 13 43 45

Dividend Withholding Tax
19 percent withholding on dividends. Savings income, including dividends, is then taxed on a 19 percent to 30 percent scale. 29

Highest Income Tax Bracket
The state withholding scale reaches 47 percent above 300,000 euro. The country tax profile puts the effective top, with the regional share, at about 54 percent. 29
VAT
21 percent standard IVA. The reduced rate is 10 percent, including dwellings, and the super-reduced rate is 4 percent. 32
Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) Rules
Yes. They apply when a Spanish resident holds more than 50 percent of a foreign entity that is taxed at less than 75 percent of the equivalent Spanish tax. 33
Property Tax
IBI, the local real-estate tax, is charged every year on the cadastral value. The rate is set by the town. A separate local tax can apply to the increase in the value of urban land when it is sold. 32
Property Transaction Tax
On a resale in the Valencian Community, transfer tax is 9 percent for deeds from 1 June 2026, or 11 percent when the property or the right is worth over 1 million euro. A new home is charged VAT instead, and the reduced VAT rate on dwellings is 10 percent. 28 32
Attractive Tax System for Digital Nomads
Employed remote workers, including people with the international telework visa, can opt into the inbound regime: withholding is 24 percent on employment income up to 600,000 euro and 47 percent above that, for the year of the move and the next five, if they were not resident in the previous five years. It is not a flat tax on every kind of income. Many passports can stay 90 days in any 180 without a visa, and that stay is not a work permit. 34 35 36
