Article 14 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals, in force 1 January 2026. Multiple-entry visitor visa for six months, extendable at the National Immigration Agency in six-month steps to two years total. No extension past two years is provided. Only nationals of visa-exempt countries. Remote work must not be for a business or employer in Taiwan. The published income test is annual, not a New Taiwan dollar salary: at least US$40,000 in either of the last two years if aged 30 or over, or US$20,000 if aged 20 to 29. A digital nomad visa from another country replaces that salary proof. Separately, the bank balance must average at least US$10,000 a month over the last six months. The monthly figure stored here is US$40,000 divided by 12. The fee is the ordinary multiple-entry visitor visa fee: US$100 (NT$3,200) for non-US passports. US passports pay US$185 (NT$6,105) from 7 April 2026. Each accompanying relative pays the same visa fee. Spouse, minor children, and adult children who cannot care for themselves because of disability may apply with the holder. No work permit and no special tax rate.
