The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rule of 11 August 1995 is still the rule the Bureau of Consular Affairs cites. At US$200,000, two people may receive single-entry resident visas. Each further US$500,000 adds one person, up to seven. Those extra people are further investor representatives, not a published family category. After entry, or after an in-country visa is issued, the holder applies for an Alien Resident Certificate. An extension asks for a fresh investment certificate of at least US$200,000 issued within the past three months, plus the company registration and the list of directors and supervisors. The certificate fee schedule for this class of residence is NT$1,000, NT$2,000, NT$3,000, NT$4,000 or NT$5,000 for one through five years. No single term is published for investors, so the duration fields are empty. The resident-visa fee sits on the general visa-fee schedule and is not stored. Someone who entered visa-free or on a landing visa cannot switch to this resident visa in Taiwan. A visitor visa marked A can be switched at the Bureau of Consular Affairs. That in-country visa step is 8 work days. The certificate itself is a further 10 working days.
