Four-in-one card under Article 9 of the Act for the Recruitment and Employment of Foreign Professionals: work permit, resident visa, Alien Resident Certificate and re-entry permit. Twelve fields, plus other recognized expertise: science and technology, digital, economy, education, culture and arts, sports, finance, law, architecture, national defense, environment and biotechnology. The stored durations are the shortest card and the longest single card. There is no published lifetime cap. A job-seeking Alien Resident Certificate of six months, once more for up to one year total, is available if the card is not extended. Work is not allowed in that gap without a Ministry of Labor permit. The standard one-year fee for applicants who are not on the special reciprocal schedule is NT$3,700, about US$116 at the Bank of Taiwan spot midpoint of NT$31.88 per US$1 on 9 October 2026. Two and three years are NT$4,700 and NT$5,700. A dependent Alien Resident Certificate is NT$1,000 per year of validity, about US$31, plus NT$2,200 if the relative entered visa-free or on a visitor visa. Hong Kong and Macau residents pay NT$3,100 for one to three years. Permanent residence is three years at an average of 183 days a year, or one year with at least 183 days if Taiwan salary and professional-practice income in the latest year is at least NT$6 million. Naturalization on the ordinary route is five years at more than 183 days a year, with basic national-language ability, and requires loss of the original nationality. A separate high-level-professional naturalization can keep the original nationality after a Ministry of the Interior review. That review is not part of the Gold Card.
